SEPTEMBER 7th JOIN US FOR A GREAT DAY OF COMBAT SPORTS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT SUPPORTING BRAYDEN BAER AND HIS FAMILY
The Story of What Happened (from Elaine Baer)
On the morning of February 15, 2024 our 16 year old daughter and 14 year old son were involved in an automobile accident. They were on their way to school, turning left out of our neighborhood when another vehicle struck them. The helicopter and ambulance quickly transported them to Cardinal Glennon.
Our daughter was, again, so fortunate. After being hospitalized last year with viral meningitis and bacterial meningitis, which caused seizures and two strokes, she was discharged later that with a concussion, bruised ribs, scrapes, and bruises.
Brayden, however, was just beginning his battle. He suffered 2 collapsed lungs, swelling and fluid on his brain, severe TBI, ARDS, 2 staff infections, and pneumonia. The neurology staff said he would have profound damage. Brayden remained in the Cardinal Glenn PICU for 42 days and was then transported to Ranken Jordan. While Brayden was expected to stay at Ranken Jordan for nearly a year as an inpatient, he transferred to outpatient PT and speech after 34 days. Even with all odds against him, he won’t give up. His recovery journey continues, and we remain patient and hopeful. He works every day to get stronger, a true warrior. At the end of his battle, Brayden will be the champion. God is so good, and with the power of prayer, strong faith, amazing medical staff, loving family, friends, and community…MIRACLES DO HAPPEN!
